Settling stitch ......

Things have been a bit hectic and out of sorts for the past month or so....very little stitching and art being done.  I decided I just needed to do a little stitching to settle myself, ease back into my cloth for the Magic Diaries workshop with Jude Hill.

It worked well.... I ripped some fabric, cut out my little version of a harvest moon and began stitching.  So thereapeutic, it slowed me down,  gave me time to think. Teeny little stitches, fraying edges.... I love to stitch.

This weekend my friend Dot and I had offered to 'babysit' our friend Patsy's exhibition.  Such a vibrant and happy exhibition.  It was a dreary winters day outside, cold and windy and quite a bit of rain....eveyone who popped in to see the exhibition was warmed by Patsy's beautiful artwork.  Beautiful array of paintings, art quilts, handmade bags and journals.  Very inspiring...I am itching to paint again.

I'm wondering what has happened to the glorious spring weather we've been experiencing lately.  The last few days have been bitterly cold and wet....I woke to more rain and coldness this morning...stoked the fire as I had to go out for the morning.  By this afternoon though we had glorious sunshine again.  I bought these beautiful Waratah's (I plan to do a painting of them) to brighten the lounge room.  So beautiful.... I smile each time I catch a glimpse of them. Click on the above link if you want to know more about these beautiful flowers, the floral emblem of New South Wales in Australia.

Have a great week, nature is wreaking havoc all over the world, so I hope you all stay safe.

It's always good to take few stitches whenever you can. Patsy's exhibition looks great. That orange wall colour is just perfect for the back-drop. Enjoy the evening Jacky.

Beautiful stitching Jacky. It made mesmile to read your words - I could have written them myself. Nothing like a bit of hand stitching to settle yourself down with. Lovely to see you pictures. Take care.

Jacky, I have had the unsettled feeling for a while too and the stitching is the best thing. I totally agree with you on that.

The plant is beautiful inspiration for your itch to paint.

Thanks for showing the exhibition wall. So alive.

yes, stitching is therapeutic, creative, relaxing, exciting and more. i can never understand people who look at a piece and sigh 'all that work' when it actually has been a pleasure

Your stitching is beautiful! Even though it is early autumn here and I still have warmth and color all around me, my heart skipped a beat at all the gorgeous colors in your photos. I hope your winter is winding down and you have glorious springtime very soon.

There is really nothing like a bit of hand work to help on e to get a grip on life!! I adore your harvest Moon!! Wonderful!! How incredibly inspiring to saturate yourself in Patsy's amazing work!! She certainly does get the fingers itching and mind gears whirring with inspiration and desires to create!!! How much fun for you and Dot!!!
I am doing lot so sun prints lately and selling my rusted fabrics with birds on my Etsy shop- that is really keeping me hoping .I am racing against the weather to keep up with sun prints so I have a big enough stock for the dark days of winter. I think that I might need to spend half the year in your part of the world and the other half up here- preferably near the beach at all times!!! It would be the spring summer and fall parts and skip winter entirely!!! what a life that would be!! More storms coming thru today but hopefully NO more FLOODING!!!! Hgus dear girl!!

I think that I am addicted to stitching, and it is for the reasons that you stated at the beginning of your post.
It settles me.
Nothing quiets me more, and I could stitch all day.

I LOVE your harvest moon and am looking forward to seeing more of this project. Take good care Jacky.

I didn't know this beautiful flower, the color reminds me of raspberries, it is so elegant and attractive.
