A piece of cotton cloth from Zigu Zagu, stiff in texture, with markings, circles. I wonder if they were for a shibori design originally as this is very old cloth. Approx. 15" wide and 2m long. It will keep my busy. The backing is a beautiful fine old silk kimono lining. All will be stitched with a variety of red threads.
Some more dyeing.... a tin can that soaked for a few days in an old onion skin bath, ready for opening and a colour catcher indigo dyed with Nat.
This is a close up of the colour catcher (thank you Deanna via Nat). The resist was made by folding and clamping. I have something in mind for this....when I get a few more made.
The results from the tin can dyeing (method a la Deanna and Jude Hill). I used a folded piece of very fine wool, from a deconstructed kimono from Zigu Zagu again.
Close up. The internal rings remind me of the rings when a tree is cut down.
This week is more stitching and I need to do some painting...play with those neons.
I hope you have a creative week.

oh that red thread against the cloth... sigh...
xoxo
Wow Jacky the indigo and the fabric around the tin are gorgeous. They do look like tree rings. I'll have to pay a visit to Zigu Zagu again as I'm fast running out of fabric, (only silk) I don't think I'll ever run out of other fabric. Your red stitching is beautiful, I cant wait to see the progression of this piece.
Such a contrast between the indigo and the fabric around the tin!
i love your 'protection cloth' idea. and that tin can dyeing turned out great.
Jacky, the dyed cloths are beautiful. I didn't know that about red thread. A few weeks ago I had the strongest urge to stitch with red thread on plain linen and I fought it, can you believe it? I really wanted to so badly and I talked myself out of it. Oh dear.
I love that you're following your heart and stitching intention right into that wonderful cloth.
Love and protection to you and yours. xx
Wow 2m long of that gorgeous cloth. I like adding small stitching of red on my piece (very Japanese). Pre markings on the cloth for shibori, love that. the tin can dyed turned out great. It's time for me to put on another batch after seeing yours. Shibori on colour catcher looks great on here.
great post jacky
and you say that i have been busy, huh. love the tree rings on your can dye....

I love seeing all your explorations with natural dying. Don't know which one I like more - indigo is always beautiful, but the one with "wood rings" is pretty spectacular. Just the idea of "protection cloth" and you sitting with it gave me a piece of calm. Interesting...
this mama will do a little red stitching for you and yours tonight. best wishes to you.
Beautiful cloth you've made, I must have a go with a moon...somehow. I plan to stitch a coverlet for the protection of me! I will use parts of my sons' worn denim (very worn!)so they will still duvry14314be with me, keeping away the cold.
I plan to take up some red thread, too - I love the idea.
there's a red thread traveling through a lot of work at the moment Jacky!!
so much here... your dyeing is wonderful... and yes to the quote, we have extended grey here during the winter so being sunny is required!! x
This piece is wonderful, just like tree which was cut, amazing!
red has been on my mind a lot lately .
