The 'beginning' |
Reverse side of 9 patch taken in the dappled morning sunlight. |
Someone else was enjoying the winter sunshine this morning....this is Minnie. We havent seen a lot of sunshine lately so she was making the most of it.
Being winter I am enjoying crocheting some scarves....I visited the Tarrawarra Gallery at Healesville on the weekend to see the Archibald Winners Exhibition. Wonderful portrait paintings...awesome in fact. The winning portrait this year was of one of Australia's most well known painters, Margaret Olley. Sadly she passed away last week, so it was especially poignant to see this exhibition and remember this beautiful, talented lady.
After the exhibition my sister and I did some wandering around Healesville and I bought these lovely wools . The Charcoal is for my sister and the two variegated (arent the colours yummy!!!) wools for my friends twin girls who will turn 9 at the end of the month.
Enjoy your week....I plan to stitch .....
MOST OF ALL,
LOVE YOUR SELF.

Sweet little nine-patch. This type of patchwork is very restful.
Love your new vest - the bright blue is a gorgeous contrast to the dark navy/black. And your nine patch looks beautiful - great to see you using the fabrics you bought in Thailand. I had a wonderful time at the Archibald Exhibition too - it was so lovely to share it with you and Jen. Lee xx
A great start. I am in continuance mode with Tim's quilt and making progress.
I always enjoy hearing about your weather, it makes me look forward to what next for us.
Love the vest Jacky, can't wait to see it. Your stitching is looking good too, a great choice of fabrics.

A 9 patch beauty with your red continent in the middle.
I love the second photo most of all with the reverse side of the 9 patch in the dappled light.
love your nine-patch. i haven't tried the paperless piecing yet- probably should, then i could have square squares that line up. those fabrics are beautiful. i noticed that your name & blog are not listed on the SEW page.
You are not alone on the procrastination front. I started out with indigo blocks and then thought about using bright colors, then back to indigo. I'd best make up my mind! Your blocks are lovely and a technique I haven't tried yet. The yarns - gorgeous!!! As is your new vest. I love the heart in the stitching. Enjoy your week stitching.
I understand your need to get stitching on that lovely patchwork piece...I'm trying to imagine what you'll do next :-)
LOVE your vintage fabrics...lucky you.

Give sweet Minnie a tickle under the chin from me....
Beautiful fabrics for the start of your quilt. Very neutral but also they make a statement.
nine patch is my favourite block.
The method used in this one is nice - the evident stitches let us feel your touch.
isn't the sun divine?
it feels like a special treat in August.
Your nine patch looks so neat..
Lovely fabrics! I have read about your holiday and exhibition...it sounds and looks fabulous. Enjoy the class with jude!

Jacky, your nine-patch is wonderful -- I love naturals with grays & and the glowing square in the center is the perfect touch. So many possibilities can come from this lovely beginning!
Beautiful yarns and the heart sun is something I'm going to put in my sketchbook -- that is so great!
